Bios:
Charles Wang is a Senoir Portfolio Manager and Director of Research of Acadian Asset Management in Boston. Mr. Wang holds a Ph.D. from Yale's School of Management, a B.S. in mathematics from Beijing University and an M.S. from the University of Massachusetts. He has worked as a senior quantitative equity analyst for a number of investment firms. His professional career has included work on stock valuation, country selection, currency forecasting, as well as strategic research on active/passive investments and index construction. At Acadian, Charles is responsible for the company's emerging market funds as well as research agenda and model development. Charles' paper (co-authored with Professor Roger Ibbotson of Yale) "Global Asset Allocation: Philosophy, Process, and Performance" was published in Spring 2000 issue of the Journal of Investing. The article won Institutional Investor's best paper award. Charles has also published in leading Chinese journals on institutional asset management and portfolio management.
Lei Zhang is the Equity Analyst with Emerging Markets Investors Corporation (EMIC) based in Washington, D.C. As one of the earliest and largest dedicated emerging markets investment houses in U.S., EMIC has around 4 billion dollars invested in emerging markets. Previously, Mr. Zhang worked for the Yale University Investments Office, which manages $11Billion Yale Endowment. Prior to that, Mr. Zhang was a co-founder of a China start-up focused on building private equity investment in the Greater China region, and also worked as an investment officer for Asian Development Bank in the Philippines. He received his MBA/MA from Yale University, and a BA in International Finance from Renmin University of China. Charles Wang, Harry He and Lei Zhang have recently translated the classical investment book Pioneering Porfolio Management by David Swensen, Chief Investment Officer of Yale Endowment.
